Opportunities for Student Leadership

All students with at least one year's experience in the Pride of Durant, who are members in good standing and have kept their grades up are eligible to audition for leadership positions. Student leadership team auditions are held in March, following Spring Break. Positions include:

• Drum Majors
• Field Captain
• Sparkler Officers
• Section Leaders
• Prop/Sound Captain
• Band Secretaries
• Uniform Officers

Varsity vs Junior Varsity Marching Positions

All eligible students will perform at football games.  Positions are determined by:

• Initial audition during 1st week of Summer Band
• Meeting deadlines for music and marching execution and memorization
• Marching ability
• Band auditions
• Attendance at all rehearsals
• Being punctual
• Attitude
• Passing ALL classes (see No Pass No Play outlined under parent page)

Concert Band Placement

Auditions occur at the end of the 1st semester, before Christmas Break.  All band classes combine to make up the marching band; however, in the concern season students will audition for placement in the symphonic or concert band.  Placement is based on more than musical ability and will include, but is not limited to, attendance, attitude, eligibility due to grade.
